Sultanpur was declared a waterbird reserve in 1972. The ground are lush with lawns and trees and shrubs and masses of bougainvillaea. Sultanpur is essentially a birdwatching place. One of the best thing about it is that there aren't many trees to obscure the visitor's view of the lake, which is often called a jheel locally.
