Experts to study solar eclipse in MP

EXPERTS FROM all the universities of the Madhya Pardesh, scientists of the MP Council for Science and Technology (MPCST), experts of astronomy from outside the state will conduct a thorough study on the effects of solar eclipse to be witnessed in Madhya Pradesh and other parts of the country on July 22.

A meeting in this regard was organised at Barkatullah University. Education ministerArchana Chitnis presided over the meeting. She has directed all the universities to monitor the solar eclipse closely and also conduct a thorough study of the entire process and its effects on various parameters of the environment.

A special workshop will be organised in this regard at Barkatullah University on July 15.

The meeting held on Monday (July 6) was attended by professor AK Gwal fromBarkatullah University; experts from Nehru Taramandal New Delhi; prof PK Verma, director general MPCST; expert Sureshwar Sharma, former vice chancellor, Rani Durgawati University Jabalpur; Mohan Gupta, former director Sanskrit University, Ujjain and others.

The upcoming total solar eclipse will be visible in India on July 22, 2009 from early morning 5:28 hours to 7:40 hours. The eclipse will last nearly four minutes from 6.26am to 6.30am, in India and the sun will not be visible at all.

In India, total lunar eclipse will be visible in Madhya Pradesh, Bihar and Northeastern states.

A fact, which makes this eclipse special, is that this total solar eclipse in India will be visible in regions around Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh) and Patna (Bihar). That’s why the experts of astronomy and research scholars will gather in Bhopal for observing the eclipse on July 22.
