• Students to learn the arts in ‘Gurukulam’ method by staying in the campus

Thanjavur: Tamil University here is introducing a new course on performing arts from this academic year.

M. Rajendran, Vice-Chancellor of the University, told presspersons here on Wednesday that a three-year degree and a one-year certificate courses will be offered from this year on performing folk arts like Thappattam, Karakattam, Thevarattam etc.

Students would be learning the arts in a ‘Gurukulam’ method by staying in the campus with the ‘Gurus,’ their teachers. Fifteen students would be admitted in each of the degree courses and certificate courses respectively.
